Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) | Classroom
The Emergency First Aid at Work course aims to teach participants the basic aspects of dealing with emergencies, with an emphasis on those occurring in the workplace. Handling ‘Life-Threatening’ situations are covered, as well as recognising and responding to some of the more common ailments that may be encountered in the workplace, giving essential lifesaving skills to deal with an incident until professional help arrives.
To demonstrate the essential basic life support skills, we encourage participants to take an active role in the practical acquisition of these skills. We believe this approach helps participants build their confidence, gain practical experience, and further their knowledge to be able to deal with an incident.

Who is it for?
Anyone can attend this course but it is predominantly for those employees given the role of the Emergency First Aider.
This course is also ideal for individuals, lone workers and employees of smaller organisations that are low risk.
Those attending our First Aid at Work Course need to be suitable and fit to attend as there are practical elements to the course.
Learners need to be over the age of 14.

How is the EFAW course assessed?
Practical assessments are carried out during the day. Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following:
- Recovery position
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation with external bleeding and shock
- Choking
Candidates must also complete a 15 question multi-choice test paper.
How long is the course?
1 day in the classroom.

Certification
On passing the assessments and the multiple-choice paper each candidate will be issued a Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work Accredited Certificate. The certificate is valid for 3 years. Under the current guidelines, it is strongly recommended that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every twelve months.
What funding is available for the Emergency First Aid at Work course?
SLC Funding
Members of the Armed Forces are able to use their Standard Learning Credits (SLC) to fund up to 80% of the course cost up to £175.

This Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is accredited by Highfield Qualifications.
There are no requirements to attend the Emergency First Aid at Work but students must be able to complete all physical aspects of the course.
