The NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation course will ensure your staff will have the necessary skills to carry out an unaided incident investigation of incidents that are non-complex and covers the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of minor incident investigation; this will help to ensure that these types of incidents don’t happen again.

How is the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation course assessed?
To achieve the qualification, candidates must pass a practical assessment.
The practical assessment is completed at the end of the course and lasts approximately 60 minutes.
You will be provided with a pack of evidence and shown a video of three witness interviews.
You will be asked to review the evidence, evaluate each interview and produce an action plan that will help prevent a recurrence of an incident.
You will receive your results within 24 working days of sitting the assessments. Once you have achieved a pass a qualification parchment will be issued.
This is normally within 40 working days of the confirmation of the successful unit.
How long does it take to complete the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation course?
1 Day for the classroom course.
You will be required to undertake three hours of pre-course reading before your course commences.
Some suggestions for this pre-course reading include:
- Reading and understanding the requirements of your organisation’s incident investigation policy
- Reviewing a sample of your organisation’s previous incident investigation reports to find what lessons have been learnt
- Reviewing some of the incident investigation case studies from the HSE’s website that may be relevant to your organisation

ELCAS Course Funding
Members of the Armed Forces are able to use their Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) to fund up to 80% of the course cost up to £2000.

What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements for this NEBOSH qualification, however, it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
