The Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme course covers a wide range of key areas, such as:

How is the SSSTS course assessed?

You will be expected to interact during the course and the final assessment will consist of the CITB SSSTS Examination (25 multiple choice questions).


Accreditation and certification

The accrediting body is the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). On completing the course you will receive a certificate valid for five years.


How long does it take to complete the SSSTS course?

2 days in the classroom. Some of our Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme run during the week and some at the weekend.


How much does the SSSTS course cost?

£275 plus vat for the classroom course.


What funding is available?

CITB Levy payers can receive a grant for this SSSTS training course.

Members of the Armed Forces are able to use their Standard Learning Credits (SLC) to fund up to 80% of the course cost up to £175.

CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) | Virtual Classroom

The SMSTS Course covers all important areas such as health and safety law, your responsibilities and duties as a manager, how to develop safe systems of work, and risk assessment.

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme is a thoroughly interactive course that is taught to participants in the classroom, through group work, case studies, and also via group presentations. There is also the requirement for some self-study to be taken outside of the course.

Those taking the SMSTS course are required to attend all 5 days. Those that do not attend the 37.5 hours of the SMSTS course will have to take it again. At the end of the training, there is a multiple-choice test. The Site Management Safety Training Scheme needs to be taken again with the 5 year period through the SMSTS Refresher course option. If this is not done then the Site Management Safety Training Scheme will need to be taken again in full.

On successful completion of the SMSTS course, you will have developed the skills and knowledge you need to be able to safely manage a construction workforce.

How is the SMSTS course assessed?

The accrediting body is the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). On successfully completing the course, you will be awarded the CITB SMSTS Training certificate – valid for five years.

How is the course assessed?

  • Unit NC1

The aim of the assessment is for you to practically apply your knowledge and understanding gained from your studies of the NC syllabus. To do this, you will complete an Open Book Examination (OBE) based on a fictional construction site

You will have 48 hours to complete and submit your answers. You do not have to complete the examination all in one go.

The assignment is then internally assessed by NEBOSH.

It is the delegate’s responsibility to submit their written assessment within the timescale. Any assessments not returned by the deadline will result in the delegate failing this section of the course.

Unit NC1: 45 marks A ‘Pass’ must be obtained to achieve the NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction

What are the entry requirements?

There is no entry requirements for this NEBOSH qualification, however, it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
