Site Safety plus and Temporary Works Training

CITB courses are designed to give everyone from the role of Operative to Senior Manager the skills they need to progress through their chosen industry.

These courses provide a 5-year certification, however, it is recommended that a refresher course is undertaken within three years of completing initial training.

Southwest offer a suite of CITB accredited Site Safety Plus courses which will help those working in the building, civil engineering and allied industries looking to develop their skills and those looking to gain a CSCS card.

Our CITB training courses can be undertaken in Andover, Basingstoke, Reading, or Southampton. If you are unable to attend one of our training locations, our experienced instructors will be happy to deliver courses at your premises.

Our course fees include the price of the Workbooks, Exams and Certificates.

The following courses are specifically designed for the building, civil engineering and allied industries:

CITB – ‘Site Safety Plus ‘Training

The Site Safety Plus Framework provides the construction industry with the necessary infrastructure to be able to deliver health, safety and environmental training solutions. It helps with the provisions of career development ensuring that the work force remains safe within their working environment.

The framework recognises a natural progression from those first entering the industry to those responsible for supervising, managing and directing construction work.

These CITB courses are designed to give everyone at all levels within the industry the skills they need to progress. We offer various CITB courses; from a one-day Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course, which also supports those requiring the knowledge to obtain their CSCS card, to the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), a more advanced input and learning opportunity.

Temporary Works

Temporary works are the parts of a construction project that are needed to enable the permanent works to be built. Usually they are removed after use, e.g. access scaffolds, props, shoring, excavation support, falsework and formwork. Sometimes the temporary work can become permanent after use with it being incorporated into the permanent works, E.g. haul road foundations and crane or piling platforms may be used further used as hard standing or road foundations.

The correct design and execution of temporary works is an essential element of risk prevention and mitigation in construction. BS 5975 provides recommendations and guidance on the procedural controls to be applied to all aspects of temporary works in the construction industry and on the design, specification, construction, use and dismantling of falsework.
